Testnet

By: WEEX|2024/11/06 04:18:15

A testnet is an alternative blockchain used for testing and experimentation. It operates like the main blockchain (mainnet) but uses test tokens with no real-world value. Developers use testnets to test new features, smart contracts, and updates in a risk-free environment before deploying them on the mainnet. Testnets are essential for ensuring that changes to the blockchain or dApp function correctly and securely without risking actual assets. Example: Ethereum has several testnets, such as Ropsten, Kovan, and Goerli, where developers can test smart contracts and dApps before deploying them on the Ethereum mainnet.
